When Batista made his return on Monday Night Raw, WWE officials were said to be rather upset with the lackluster reaction from the audience. However, management then saw the television ratings for the segment and placed the blame on the Dayton crowd instead.
Another issue that CM Punk had with WWE was the return of Batista. While he has no personal issues with Batista himself, Punk was upset that another person was being brought in and placed above him on the card. Punk was hoping that he would be used as the top guy again this year.
There are rumors that Batista could be doing a heel turn after winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 30. Management has noticed the reaction that he has been receiving since making his return, and the feeling is that he might work better as an antagonist.
The leading candidate to win the Royal Rumble right now is Batista. WWE is said to want to capitalize on the momentum of his return by throwing him immediately into the main event scene of Wrestlemania 30. A title match against Randy Orton has been heavily discussed backstage.
Batista is scheduled to make his WWE return tonight at Monday Night Raw, and it has now been confirmed that he is indeed backstage at the event. Earlier today, he joked about how he should have returned at Summerslam instead of the Royal Rumble because of the cold weather in Ohio.
While there has been quite a bit of confusion on his return, it now appears that Batista has indeed signed a two year deal with WWE. That does not necessarily mean that he will be a full time performer during that duration, however. Batista still wants to do movies.
Initially, WWE had advertised the return of Batista at a live event in Las Vegas in February, but now, the company has opted to remove him from all of their promotional material. The belief is that the company jumped the gun and thought it was finalized.
"There are a few guys. For me it's kinda cool to think about guys you grew up and you idolized. Undertaker has a spot where he has that allure, and that mystique, and everyone always kinda goes to Undertaker as being their guy, and rightfully so. I was also a huge Vader fan, so if they were ever able to bring him back for one, I think that would be cool as well. I know there's been talk possibly, and I have no idea if it's gonna happen, about Batista possibly coming back. You know guys like that, you grew up watching idolized, you know they're all kind a dreams who knows if they'll ever come to fruition."
