When Batista made his return on Monday Night Raw, WWE officials were said to be rather upset with the lackluster reaction from the audience. However, management then saw the television ratings for the segment and placed the blame on the Dayton crowd instead.
Another issue that CM Punk had with WWE was the return of Batista. While he has no personal issues with Batista himself, Punk was upset that another person was being brought in and placed above him on the card. Punk was hoping that he would be used as the top guy again this year.
There are talks backstage that Titus ONeil could be on the verge of receiving a push in WWE. With his good friend Batista making a return to the company, some feel that management will try to appease him by pushing the Prime Time Player member.
There are rumors that Batista could be doing a heel turn after winning the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 30. Management has noticed the reaction that he has been receiving since making his return, and the feeling is that he might work better as an antagonist.

The leading candidate to win the Royal Rumble right now is Batista. WWE is said to want to capitalize on the momentum of his return by throwing him immediately into the main event scene of Wrestlemania 30. A title match against Randy Orton has been heavily discussed backstage.
Batista is scheduled to make his WWE return tonight at Monday Night Raw, and it has now been confirmed that he is indeed backstage at the event. Earlier today, he joked about how he should have returned at Summerslam instead of the Royal Rumble because of the cold weather in Ohio.
With Brock Lesnar and Batista already confirmed for the event, there are rumors that Sheamus might not be making his return at the Royal Rumble. WWE wants him on the Wrestlemania card, so they do not want his return to be overshadowed.
While there has been quite a bit of confusion on his return, it now appears that Batista has indeed signed a two year deal with WWE. That does not necessarily mean that he will be a full time performer during that duration, however. Batista still wants to do movies.
WWE recenlty pulled advertisement that featured the return of Batista because they wanted to keep it a secret. That forced the company into making the announcement on Monday Night Raw. The advertisements have been brought back up.
