The Injury
Reports have surfaced that John Cena suffered torn right pectoral muscle at Monday Night Raw last night.
The injury to the WWE Heavyweight Champion is believed to have happened during a botched hiptoss attempt by Mr Kennedy in the main event last night. For some reason, Mr Kennedy ended up on top of John Cena on a hiptoss.
A lot of people have turned on John Cena to the point of blindly refusing to give him any credit, but you'd be a fool to not give him credit for how he did the tough guy routine and kept working after the injury. Not only did he finish his match with Mr Kennedy, he also took a beating afterwards from Randy Orton. That's a man with heart.
Fan Reaction: Mr Kennedy
Mr Kennedy used to have a decent amount of fans within the internet wrestling community, but after the drug suspension and the botched move that may put John Cena on the sidelines, fans have turned on him.
The man that was once considered the future of the WWE (along with Elijah Burke and MVP) is now in the doghouse with the fans. Prior to tonight, he was only in the doghouse with management, who as upset with Mr Kennedy for ruining the illegitimate son storyline. |
Fan Reaction: John Cena
It seems like wrestling fans will never learn the old saying of, "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it."
A lot of fans have been so blinded by hatred that they even wish harm upon John Cena. These fans still fail to grasp the concept that John Cena is not the person in charge of deciding who gets to wear the WWE Heavyweight Championship. They're even blind enough to think that having the title on anyone else would be an improvement over having the title on John Cena.
Love him or hate him, John Cena is a legitimate main eventer. Look around the WWE roster and see how many legitimate main eventers you can find. There's not a lot. The lack of main eventers is one of the reasons why the internet is all in a frenzy over the small possibility of Chris Jericho making a comeback. Losing John Cena is going to be a lot worse than people expect.
No Mercy
Until WWE knows for sure how severe John Cena's injury is, the Last Man Standing match at No Mercy against Randy Orton will go on as scheduled.
If John Cena is deemed to injured to work, then management will have to come up with something creative. King Booker is still off the road (either serving a suspension or still protesting the WWE's decision to suspend him). Management trusts Randy Orton enough to let him be a main event challenger, but putting the WWE Heavyweight Championship on him is a different story. The only other option is Triple H, and we already know how many wrestling fans would freak out over that.
Closing Thoughts
Hopefully, the injury isn't as serious as it is initially believed because the WWE can't afford to lose another main eventer. If John Cena is out, then be prepared to hear the same complaints exist but with a different name (Triple H). |
