Six wrestlers will step foot inside of the Elimination Chamber match
at No Way Out to fight for the coveted WWE Heavyweight Championship.
Raw Elimination Chamber
On Raw this week, WWE did a series of qualifying matches to determine
the five guys that will step inside of the monstrous steel cage to battle
Sheamus for the WWE Heavyweight Championship.
Doing this particular match at No Way Out each year is a brilliant way
to keep fans guessing as to who will end up in the main event title match
at Wrestlemania. It also is a great tool for creating new storylines
heading into Wrestlemania.
This year, John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Ted DiBiase, Triple H, and Randy
Orton will join Sheamus in the Raw Elimination Chamber match.
Let's take a look at each of the contestants.
Sheamus
It's a well known fact that the internet wrestling
community has not accepted the fact that Sheamus has been elevated
to the top spot on Raw. He simply does not have that credibility for
it. Nor has he been pushed well enough to change people's mind.
With that in mind, there's a very good chance that management will
change their mind about using him in one of the main event spots
at Wrestlemania. He could be walking out of the Elimination Chamber
without his title belt. Of course, Triple H could be pushing management to keep the belt on
Sheamus so that he can take the title away from him at Wrestlemania.
That's always a possibility.
Triple H
Since we're on the topic of Triple H, let's continue.
The former world champion has spent a considerable amount of time in
DX and out of the singles division. It could be time for him to start
itching to return to the top spot on Raw. That means that he's going
to want a main event spot at Wrestlemania.
There's not a lot of opponents that Sheamus can work with at Wrestlemania
and still be able to draw interest. Triple H happens to be someone that
he can work with. Plus, the real life friendship between the two makes
things a little bit more interesting as well.
John Cena
With John Cena being Vince McMahon's favorite wrestler, there's always
going to be a chance that he's in the main event at Wrestlemania. With
his strong work ethics, it's hard to dispute that he deserves it.
It wouldn't shock anyone to see John Cena capturing the WWE Heavyweight
Championship again at No Way Out.
Randy Orton
Even though the title belt is around Sheamus' waist, Randy Orton remains
the top heel on the Raw brand. Since he is in that spot, that increases
his chances at winning the Raw Elimination Chamber match and go on to
headline Wrestlemania.
The one thing that might take that away from him is the next guy. Ted DiBiase
If someone were to say that Ted DiBiase deserves a spot in the Elimination
Chamber match, then they obviously have not been watching the way that
he has been utilized in the last year. His character simply is just not
at that level yet.
So, there has to be a catch, right?
There is.
The odds are that Ted DiBiase was thrown into this match in order to
set up a program with Randy Orton that will lead to the two multi generation
stars to battle at Wrestlemania.
The best way now to elevate Ted DiBiase is to put him in a high profile
match against something that the audience would root against. Randy Orton
is one of the few guys that can fill that role for WWE nowadays.
Kofi Kingston
Ever since he upset Randy Orton during a match on Raw, Kofi Kingston's
push has been on a slight decline. He's not getting the Dolph Ziggler
treatment by any means, but you can still feel the slight drop.
I don't generally deal in absolutes, but there's no way that WWE is
going to put the title on Kofi Kingston.
Closing Thoughts
John Cena and Triple H have the best shot at winning the Raw Elimination
Chamber match. Randy Orton and Sheamus are on the next level below them,
in terms of chances. Ted DiBiase and Kofi Kingston are extreme long shots. |
