Things are calm right now, but they're about to get hectic pretty
soon. Gregory Helms is about to face some serious problems in the coming
days.
Eye of the Hurricane
Hurricanes are devastating things. Winds up to 155 miles per hour demolish
everything that comes across its path. Buildings are destroyed and cars
get thrown around like they were toys. Very scary thing.
However, in the very center of this natural disaster is something called
"the eye of the hurrcane".
The eye of the hurricane is a small area right smack in the middle of
the thing where it's calm and peaceful. If you were standing in the middle
of it, you would have no idea about the destruction that lies ahead.
Right now, Gregory Helms is caught in the eye of the hurricane.
Arrested Development
For those of you that are unaware, Gregory Helms and Chris Jericho were
arrested in Kentucky on Thursday morning. The two were charged with public
intoxication.
Details have emerged from the incident, and Gregory Helms sounds like
the guilty party in this entire situation. Fueled by alcohol, the former
WWE Cruiserweight Champion physically struck friends inside of a taxi.
Chris Jericho and Matt Hardy were both involved in the incident as well.
Pecking Order
Everyone knows that WWE doesn't punish their wrestlers equally. Those
that are main event performers do not have to follow the same rules as
the wrestlers that management consider to be expendable.
Guys like Randy Orton, Batista, Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels,
and John Cena are going to be able to get away with a lot more things
than guys like Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero, Dolph
Ziggler, and Christian can.
Fortunately for Chris Jericho, he's in the main event. While this situation
does make him look bad, don't expect management to halt his push any
time soon. He's just too hot of a commodity for them to truly punish
him on screen.
Hurricane Helms, though, is a different story.
While he's an underrated performer who has talent in and outside of
the ring, Hurricane Helms is considered expendable by management. He's
simply a lower level wrestler on the company's third brand.
He's going to be the one that's going to face the wrath of management.
With big name media outlets like MTV and TMZ picking up on the story,
management is quite upset with the situation because they're receiving
negative publicity during a time where the company is building towards
Wrestlemania.
There wasn't much of a chance of Hurricane Helms receiving an actual
push from WWE prior to the arrest, which means that there's definitely
not going to be a chance of a push after the incident. In fact, Hurricane
Helms was immediately removed from the Royal Rumble match taking place
this Sunday. A release from his contract would not be completely out of the question.
Hurricane Helms was rumored to have been unhappy with the company and
was said to be looking for ways to get to TNA to join close friends Shannon
Moore and Jeff Hardy.
Closing Thoughts
When Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash were involved
in the Madison Square Garden Incident, the only person that was punished
was Triple H. You can expect that Hurricane Helms would be the only one
to get punished for this situation. |
