Heat on Mickie James
Ask 100 wrestling fans who their favorite diva is in WWE, and Mickie James will come up more often than not. As one of the longest reigning WWE diva (with Melina being the other), she has earned her spot with the internet wrestling community.
A lot of wrestling fans commend her for being a loyal employee who has consistently carried the younger and less experienced female wrestlers in the company to very solid matches.
There's not a lot of negative things that could be said about her.
Well, from wrestling fans that is. WWE management, on the other hand, has plenty of negative things to say about Mickie James.
As of late, the company has been extremely hard on Mickie James. They're upset with a few of her personal choices in regards to her body and her career.
She's walking on thin ice right now.
Weight Issues
In a move that has caused quite a bit of backlash from both the other wrestlers in the locker room and wrestling fans from around the world, WWE has taken up issues with Mickie James and her perceived weight issues.
It's no secret that WWE wishes to have their female performers being as slim as possible. Some wrestling fans have even gone as far as to use the term "anorexic" when it comes to describing the size of the divas.
As of late, Mickie James has gained a little bit of weight. She's not at the point where she's fat by any means. The former WWE Women's Champion still is quite an attractive individual.
However, WWE wants her to be thinner.
The company has sent her a message by using her weight as a focal point of a storyline between her and Michelle McCool. The company has been known for years for taking real life issues and turning them into storyline plots.
As a good employee, Mickie James is going along with the plan. However, reports have surfaced that several of the wrestlers have quietly complained about the company putting her in this awkward situation.
Music Career
Another source of dischord between the company and Mickie James is the fact that she's pursuing a music career.
Unlike TNA, WWE generally does not like it when their wrestlers go outside of the company to work. It's OK if they do other things involved with the company (acting in WWE Films movies), but it becomes quite an issue if wrestlers venture outside.
Over the last few months, Mickie James has been said to be more and more eager to start up her music career. She feels that she can do well as a country music singer.
WWE, on the other hand, views the music career as a major distraction. They simply want Mickie James to focus on her wrestling career and nothing else.
Closing Thoughts
Her weight issue is just ridiculous. To me, there is no issue. As far as her music career is concerned, she should be allowed to give it a shot. With so many wrestlers having nothing after they leave the big leagues, it would be nice to see her have something to fall back on. |
