Brock Lesnar Hospitalized

Things are getting worse for Brock Lesnar. The current UFC Heavyweight Champion collapsed and was sent to the hospital after weeks of being sick.

Brock Lesnar Hospitalized

Next Saturday, Brock Lesnar was originally scheduled to defend the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Shane Carwin, a man who possesses the same size and speed that the former WWE superstar has.

However, we learned a few weeks ago that the fight was postponed for a later date. It was revealed that Brock Lesnar had backed out of the fight because he had been too ill to train. According to his representatives, he had been ill for close to a month.

UFC officials were willing to be patient because they truly wanted to see the fight between Shane Carwin and Brock Lesnar take place, so the company decided to wait until the champion was healthy enough.

In a bizarre twists, it has been revealed that rather than getting healthier, Brock Lesnar has become a lot more ill than before.

The former WWE Heavyweight Champion took a trip up to Canada, where he collapsed from his illness. He was taken to a hospital somewhere in North Dakota.

The Mystery Illness

The exact illnesses that Brock Lesnar is suffering from has been kept a well guarded secret.

Brock Lesnar and his medical staff obviously know what he's suffering from. Dana White, as his employer, now knows as well. However, the president of UFC isn't talking. He's keeping things under wraps as well.

The only thing that he has mentioned is the two illnesses that can be ruled out. To make sure rumors don't spread any more wildly than they currently are, Dana White informed the media that Brock Lesnar is not suffering from AIDS or cancer.

However, Dana White did mention that it was something rather serious. It was something that Brock Lesnar did not want the world to know (it has already been revealed that one of the illnesses that he's been suffering from is mono).

Whatever the mystery illness (or illnesses) is, it's something that's strong enough to take down an imposing 6'3", 265 pound man.

What's Next?

Dana White knows that Brock Lesnar is going to be on the sideline for a while. He also knows that he's going to have to do what's best for his company.

With that in mind, it would not be a complete surprise if Dana White named an interim champion while Brock Lesnar recovers from his sickness. UFC fans deserve to have an active champion, and the company will more than likely give that to them.

There has also been some speculation from around the media that Brock Lesnar's career in UFC might actually be over because of the illness. As of right now, take that as pure speculation only.

If Brock Lesnar is forced to retire, UFC basically just lost one of their most valuable marketing chips. Very few guys have been able to generate interest in the product from mainstream fans as well as Brock Lesnar has.

He might not be the most gifted fighter in the business. He's far from being the best. However, he is someone that has proven to be able to draw in viewers.

Closing Thoughts

Whatever it is that Brock Lesnar is suffering from, hopefully he recovers fully and rapidly from it. It would be a shame if we never did get to see just how far the big man could have gone in the world of mixed martial arts.
