Bright Future For Sheamus

Sheamus has only been on WWE TV since this summer, but the crystal ball is already predicting a bright future for him.

Bright Future For Sheamus

On June 30, 2009, Sheamus made his debut on the weekly ECW on Sci Fi television show. He was booked to be extremely dominating against one of those local wrestlers that most people will never remember.

Sheamus defeated a few more of those local wrestlers before being thrust into a feud with Goldust, the veteran who had been placed on the ECW brand to elevate the younger wrestlers.

Shortly after a successful run against Goldust, Sheamus was then elevated into a program with Shelton Benjamin, the once promising star who has now been relegated to enhancement talent on the third brand.

The feud never had a chance to properly end. Sheamus never had a run with the ECW Heavyweight Championship.

Management wanted a lot more for Sheamus. They wanted him on the company's flagship show.

On the Fast Track

According to reports, WWE management has been debating for weeks now whether or not they should move Sheamus away from ECW.

The decision making process took a bit of time. The actual execution of the decision was a lot faster. The company didn't even bother doing a proper setup for the move. They simply just made it happen.

Sheamus showed up on Raw and destroyed a local wrestler. He then destroyed Jamie Noble, who on the WWE grand scheme of things is barely a step above the local jobbers.

Based on the way they booked Sheamus against Jamie Noble, it's quite obvious that WWE is looking to skyrocket him towards the main event scene within the next 12 months.

Don't be surprised if Sheamus is already feuding with the likes of Shawn Michaels, John Cena, and Triple H by this time next year. He might not be beating them in the feuds, but he will gain a measure of credibility and momentum by being pitted against some of the best that this business has to offer.

There's a need for another upper level heel on the Raw brand (behind Randy Orton). Sheamus is the guy that has a pretty good shot at taking that spot.

Friends in High Places

The internet wrestling community absolutely hates wrestlers who get elevated because of politics.

They hated Hulk Hogan when he was abusing his powers in WCW. They hated the Clique (Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Triple H and Sean Waltman) when they ran rampant through the WWE locker rooms.

For years, Triple H was regarded as one of the most hated personalities in all of wrestling because wrestling fans were upset with him because of his relationship to Stephanie McMahon, who is the executive vice president of the creative department.

Interestingly enough, Triple H is also one of the reasons why there are some people within the internet wrestling community who are against elevating Sheamus.

The two have developed a close relationship outside of the arena through their mutual passion for working out. That relationship is one of the reasons why Sheamus was elevated so quickly to the Raw brand.

Closing Thoughts

I personally like the guy and hopes that he gets pushed well. He's got that unique look. If he can continue to improve on his mic work and ring work, then I can see him being a main event heel some day.
