Brian Kendrick Released

In a move that drawn the ire of wrestling fans, WWE has decided to release the highly talented Brian Kendrick from the company.

Brian Kendrick Released

It was something that has been a possibility for a very long time now. Actually, it started back when Paul London was released.

People have been wondering silently when Brian Kendrick was going to be released from WWE.

Those talks were squashed when WWE tried giving Brian Kendrick a push. He was placed in a high profile pay per view match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship approximately a year ago.

That match gave so many wrestling fans hope that Brian Kendrick was finally going to be allowed to show his talents and be moved up the card.

However, that push never came. In fact, the peak of his WWE career was that Championship Scramble match (some might say that the year long tag team title reign, but I'll disagree).

Instead of seeing that push, wrestling fans saw Brian Kendrick being released and his potential unfulfilled.

His Own Demons

As many people already know, much of Brian Kendrick's failures in WWE was a result of his own wrongdoings.

It's not a secret that Brian Kendrick enjoys marijuana. Reports had him being caught with the drug in his system at least a dozen times. Of course, marijuana doesn't count as a strike against the wrestlers (just a $1,000 fine), so that's why he was able to avoid a release.

There was a glimmer of hope recently for fans of Brian Kendrick. Reports had surfaced that WWE was easing up on their rules against marijuana. Wrestlers were still going to be fined, but their push wasn't going to be completely taken away.

With that in mind, a lot of fans had assumed that Brian Kendrick was going to start being pushed again.

Unfortunately for him, that didn't happen.

Instead, he ended up being defeated by Jerry Lawler, the 59 year old color commentator of Raw. That raised quite a bit of eyebrows with fans. He also was quickly destroyed by Kofi Kingston in a match.

The end felt near for Brian Kendrick as the weeks wore by. It finally happened on July 30, 2009.

What's Next?

If you're thinking that we're never going to see Brian Kendrick in WWE again, there's a chance that you could be wrong.

Don't believe me? Take a look at Chris Masters, who recently made his official return to WWE TV. He was allowed to return to the company after being suspended a couple of times for violating the drug policy.

Brian Kendrick could very well be back with WWE in the future. Of course, that's in the future. For now, he's going to have to pursue his wrestling career somewhere else.

There are talks that Brian Kendrick could be bound for either Ring of Honor or TNA. That would not be a shock for him to show up in either place because he has the in-ring skills to make it there.

Whether or not those companies are going to be concerned about his recreational habits is another story all together.

Closing Thoughts

It's a shame that we'll never know just how far Brian Kendrick could have gone in WWE. While he may not have reached the same levels as Jeff Hardy, it would have been nice to have seen him become a major player.
