Several wrestlers are said to be upset with WWE for the way they handled Vickie Guerrero's departure from the company.
Vickie Guerrero's Departure
When word spread that Vickie Guerrero was leaving WWE, there were some mixed reactions to the news.
Wrestling fans who were unable to see past her brilliantly played character were rejoiceful over her departure.
Those that were able to separate the character and the performance from the person were saddened by the news. Vickie Guerrero had grown to become the most entertaining general manager in WWE as of late.
The wrestlers were obviously saddened to see Vickie Guerrero leave. However, they understand that with her being a single mother of two teenage girls, she had to make the decision that was best for her family.
Management was also disappointed that she was leaving because they were able to see the tremendous job that she had done to connect with the audience. Keep in mind that she chose to walk away. She wasn't fired.
Of course, that didn't prevent WWE from humiliating her character as she was on the way out the door, though.
Time Tested Tradition
It has become somewhat of a tradition in WWE to embarrass employees, especially those that are about to leave the company.
Jim Ross is widely regarded as one of the greatest commentators of all time, and even he is not protected from the ridicule. Even though he doesn't have any plans of leaving the company any time soon, Vince McMahon has humiliated him many times.
Vickie Guerrero's farewell present from WWE included segments where she was called a pig, was booked in a hog pen match, and was berated by Edge during her last appearance with the company.
While it may not seem all that bad to the naked eye, it was something that wasn't even necessary. They could have simply done a skit where she was fired by Vince McMahon. That would have sufficed.
However, there's this little part of Vince McMahon that just absolutely loves to humiliate people. Some speculate that it could be because he wants to "lower someone's stock" just in case they decide to sign with a competing company like TNA.
Backstage Backlash
There are plenty of wrestlers backstage that were very close to Eddie Guerrero at one point. They're still loyal to the man even though he has passed away for a couple of years now.
Reports have surfaced that the wrestlers were quite disgusted with how Vickie Guerrero's departure was handled.
Some of these guys, who know Eddie Guerrero quite well, believe that the former WWE Heavyweight Champion would never have allowed his wife to participate in such a demeaning segment.
They believed that Eddie Guerrero would not have had a problem with the company exploiting his death earlier because that meant that Vickie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero were both still receiving paychecks.
However, treating his wife this way would have crossed the line.
Closing Thoughts
I'm sure all of this will soon pass and everything will be back to normal (or as normal as it can be in the WWE locker rooms). However, I do believe that they should have just thanked her for her contributions and allowed her to walk away.
