Underappreciated Veterans |

While everyone talks about the young wrestlers in WWE, there are a handful of veteran performers that are providing stability.
Underappreciated Veterans
Check out the various wrestling message boards across the internet, and you'll see plenty of discussions about the up and coming wrestlers in WWE.
A lot of people are touting multi generation wrestlers like Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, and David Hart Smith as future main event performers and world champions.
The high flying antics of Evan Bourne, Tyson Kidd and Kofi Kingston has a lot of people talking as well.
Then you have an unproven guy like Dolph Ziggler drawing ridiculous comparisons to the legendary Curt Hennig.
These young guys provide the style and the flash. It's a different group of guys, though, that provide the substance (no reference to drugs intended here).
Very few people talk about the veterans, but they should.
The Vets
Take a look at any previous championship teams from the NBA and NFL, and you'll find the rosters filled with veteran players who do all of the little things needed to win.
While they may not make the headlines, they're just as important as the guys that do.
The same holds true for professional wrestling.
The following veterans are still holding it down despite being unheralded.
- Chavo Guerrero - He's been in the game for 15 years now, and he's still underrated. He's great on the mic and in skits. Plus, he can carry a match pretty well.
- Goldust - While some see him solely as a comedic character, closer observers see the 21 year veteran as someone that is back in shape and able to carry matches.
- Jamie Noble - The 14 year veteran hardly gets any television time but always manages to avoid getting released. There's a reason behind that.
- Mickie James - The 10 year veteran isn't just easy on the eyes. She's also very capable of providing guidance to the stable of inexperienced divas on the roster.
- Gail Kim - See Mickie James.
- William Regal - With 26 years under his belt, he's been in the game longer than some of his fellow wrestlers have been alive.
- Finlay - This guy started wrestling approximately 6 years before Randy Orton was even born. He's going to have a job with WWE for a very long time because of his ability to teach.
- Tommy Dreamer - When we first saw Tommy Dreamer 20 years ago, never would anyone have imagined that he would be signing a long term contract with WWE in 2009. Shows you how good of a worker that he is.
Some of you are probably wondering where Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, and Kane are on the list. They were purposely excluded since I was just listing wrestlers that weren't talked about as often.
Closing Thoughts
Just wanted to bring focus to the hard working guys and gals that constantly escape the spotlight. |
