  • Angelina Love defeated Tara.
  • Abyss & Taylor Wilde defeated Raven & Daffney.
  • Sting defeated Matt Morgan.
  • Beer Money Inc defeated Team 3D.

Slammiversary 2009 Detailed Results

The following are more detailed results for Slammiversary 2009.

  • TNA X Division Championship
    King of the Mountain
Suicide vs Alex Shelley vs Chris Sabin vs Consequences Creed vs Jay Lethal

Excellent match with a lot of fast paced action and a ton of entertaining high spots. Every time you think that every possible spot has been done with a ladder, these guys find a way to surprise you.

It's not necessarily a bad thing for TNA to keep the title on Suicide, but the audience was just begging for either Alex Shelley or Chris Sabin to win.

  • Daniels vs Shane Douglas

Shane Douglas did a decent job in this match. It was obvious that he needed to be in better shape, but he did well for the shape that he was in. Daniels deserves a lot of praise for making this match look good.

This was a short term program, so it makes all the sense in the world to have Daniels winning the match.

  • TNA Knockouts Championship
    Angelina Love vs Tara

As expected, this was a solidly worked match. Tara showed the experience that she possessed, and Angelina Love proved that she could easily keep up.

It would have been nice to see Tara picking up the belt to gain some instant momentum. However, it looks like TNA opted to give heel heat to Angelina Love by going with the interference victory.

  • Monster's Ball
Abyss & Taylor Wilde vs Raven & Daffney

Abyss excelled in this match as expected. Raven showed that he still has some fuel left in his tank. Daffney and Taylor Wilde surprised a bunch of people with their performances.

Abyss & Taylor Wilde picked up the win. Didn't really mattered who won this match. It was all about the performance.

  • Sting vs Matt Morgan

The booking behind this match was exactly what it needed to be. Sting was portrayed as the veteran who wouldn't give up. Matt Morgan was the dominant youngster that couldn't put the veteran away. A couple of sloppy spots, but overall, it was a good match.

Many were hoping that Matt Morgan would win the match and get a spot with the Main Event Mafia. Even though he lost, he might still get the spot because of the "respect earned" from his performance.

  • TNA World Tag Team Championship
Beer Money Inc vs Team 3D

Solid match that goes along the same line as the other matches these two tag teams have had. It's easy to tell that they've got good chemistry together.

TNA went above and beyond to protect Team 3D in the loss. First, they kept highlighting the fact that Brother Ray and Brothery Devon were flying back from a title defense in Japan. Then, they had the British Invasion doing some damage in the match.

  • TNA World Heavyweight Championship
    King of the Mountain
Jeff Jarrett vs Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles vs Mick Foley

Very entertaining match. Mick Foley worked the audience during the entire match. AJ Styles is phenomenal as usual. Samoa Joe, Jeff Jarrett, and Kurt Angle all came through as well.

Right now, it doesn't make a lot of sense, but TNA sure has captured the audience's attention and imagination by having Samoa Joe turning heel and helping Kurt Angle win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Closing Thoughts

From start to finish, that was a highly entertaining show. The fear was that the company was going to overbook the matches, but fortunately, they avoided much of that.
