Don't look now, but the Miz has a chance to become a much bigger star than John Morrison can be.
Making Miz A Star
Remember how Shawn Michaels was appointed a future singles superstar when he was with Marty Jannetty?
Well, that prediction came through. However, most people overlooked Marty Jannetty, who ended up proving that he was a capable worker on his own (had his demons not gotten the best of him, he probably would have been a bigger star).
People were wrong.
Remember how everyone pegged "Wildcat" Chris Harris as a future main event wrestler while he was teaming with "Cowboy" James Storm?
Well, Chris Harris ended up leaving TNA and going to WWE for an extremely brief stint. He is now ridiculed by wrestling fans while James Storm is involved in one of the most popular acts in all of wrestling.
People were wrong.
Remember when everyone predicted that John Morrison was going to be the one to break out and become a singles star while he was teaming with the Miz?
Well, people might be wrong.
As hard as it is for some of you to imagine, the Miz might end up becoming a bigger star than John Morrison.
Talking the Talk
While John Morrison and the Miz were becoming a popular duo in ECW, they were given an online segment called The Dirt Sheet. It was an entertaining show that produced some good laughs.
Since he was involved in the project, John Morrison was given credit for having a good sense of humor and having some charisma.
If you go back and look at those segments again, pay close attention and you'll see that the Miz was the one that was behind the comedy. He's the one with the sense of humor and charisma.
If you'll notice, since the two split up and were placed on separate brands, only one of them has been given a good amount of mic time.
There's a reason behind that.
Walking the Walk
Casual wrestling fans all believe that John Morrison is head and shoulders above the Miz. They're unable to see past the surface.
John Morrison has a lot of flashy, high flying moves. Things like that are more than enough to blind the casual wrestling fan into believing that the wrestler is a great in-ring performer.
If you strip away those flashy moves, then you're left with a guy that is borderline average in the ring. Nothing against John Morrison, but he relies way too much on the acrobatic moves. He needs to show more of the fundamental stuff.
Despite the fact that he came into the company through a reality TV show, the Miz has developed into a fundamentally sound wrestler. The guy was trained by Al Snow and Bill DeMott, two guys who are heralded as trainers.
The Miz is no Ricky Steamboat, but he's not horrible in the ring either.
While the two were a tag team, John Morrison provided the flash, but the Miz provided the fundamental.
Closing Thoughts
For the record, I'm not bashing John Morrison here. He still has a chance at becoming a main event wrestler. I'm merely pointing out that fans shouldn't overlook the Miz. |
