Hulk Hogan At Wrestlemania 25

by Jack Windham
January 9, 2009

It appears as if Hulk Hogan is already planting the seeds for a potential dream match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 25.

Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 25

Say what you want about Hulk Hogan, but you also have to admit that he's one of the best businessmen that the wrestling industry has ever seen.

He knows where the money is at, and he goes for it.

The first Wrestlemania ever was headlined by Hulk Hogan. With the 25th anniversary show coming up this year, it definitely makes sense that Hulk Hogan would try to appear on that show as well.

As a wrestling fan, it wouldn't feel right to have Wrestlemania 25 without the man that the event was built around.

The First Step

Hulk Hogan initiated the first step in his plan when he called into a radio show where Jim Ross was the featured attraction.

He exchanged pleasantries with Jim Ross and informed him that he did not like the proposed finish that the legendary announcer came up with for his potential dream match against Steve Austin.

Earlier on the show, Jim Ross came up with an idea where John Morrison & the Miz would interfere in the match only to be beaten down by Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. Afterwards, the two legendary wrestlers would share a beer in the ring.

The conversation doesn't guarantee that anything will happen, but it is a positive step in the right direction towards making the dream come true.

Putting Over

One of the big issues that has prevented the Hogan/Austin dream match from happening in the past is whether or not Hulk Hogan would be willing to lose the match.

Steve Austin apparently does not wish to participate in the match if he has to lose to Hulk Hogan, which is quite understandable considering their age difference right now.

Hulk Hogan put that issue to rest when he publicly stated that he would be more than willing to put Steve Austin over in the match.

Of course, Hulk Hogan does have a history of using political stroke to change the outcome of matches, though.

If the deal were to be signed, he is fully aware that Vince McMahon would put a ton of money into marketing the match.

Once the marketing money has been spent, Hulk Hogan knows that he can hold Vince McMahon hostage by threatening to not do the match at the last minute unless the outcome was changed.

Then again, Steve Austin knows how much leverage he has as well, so the political games may not work against him.

In the past, Steve Austin has shown a willingness to walk away from the company when things aren't to his liking.

When you're that big of a star, you have that power to use.

Closing Thoughts

WWE really needs something big for Wrestlemania this year. The current product simply is not generating as much hype as it used to.

A dream match between Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin at Wrestlemania would provide more than enough hype.
