Tomko to WWE

by Jack Windham
November 28, 2008

With Christian Cage still trying to decide on his fate, WWE has decided to bring back his bodyguard first.

Tomko to WWE

Earlier in the year, Tomko parted ways with TNA because of a conflict with management over his schedule.

Tomko's first priority appeared to have been his work in Japan. That didn't sit too well with TNA management.

The sides parted on good terms (Tomko even returned to work a few shows after his release), and Tomko focused on his career in Japan.

Somewhere between then and now, WWE came calling with a pretty significant financial offer.

Tomko has now signed with WWE and will return to the company around the start of 2009.

Goodbye, Japan

Details of Tomko's contract have not been relesaed yet, but there's a very good chance that his Japanese career will now be on hold.

Very few people are allowed the privilege of working for WWE and working for another company at the same time.

When you work for WWE, you're on the road for much of the year.

That won't leave much time for Tomko to fly to Japan to work a few shows.

While he never went past the midcard level in WWE, Tomko was successfully able to make himself a huge star in Japan.

In fact, Tomko and former WWE star Giant Bernard (then known as Prince Albert) formed a highly successful tag team in the Orient.

Christian Reunion

The major belief with this signing is that WWE is hoping to pair up Tomko with Christian Cage if the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion decides to return to the company.

Tomko would be a tremendous asset to WWE if both he and Christian Cage were to return at the same time.

Putting the two together makes sense because of their history together in both WWE and TNA.

It would be interesting to see if WWE continues Tomko's character development from TNA where he wasn't just a mindless bodyguard anymore.

However, if Christian Cage chooses to remain in TNA, then Tomko's role becomes a bit harder to determine.

WWE can also choose to pair Tomko up with Edge, as the WWE Heavyweight Chmpion's character seems the type to need an enforcer.

If all else fails, Tomko can be used to provide depth to the lackluster tag team division in WWE.

Closing Thoughts

Very interesting signing for WWE here. If anything, it serves to keep the Christian Cage rumors hot.
