Ted DiBiase being knocked out throws an interesting twist into his storyline with Randy Orton.
Knocked Out
If you missed Monday Night Raw this week, then you missed out on seeing Ted DiBiase being knocked out and stretchered out.
However, he wasn't taken out of commission by the likes of CM Punk, Kofi Kingston, or any other enemies.
No. Ted DiBiase was taken out by Randy Orton, a man he has been trying to align with for the last several weeks.
During the match between Randy Orton and CM Punk, the trio of Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, and Manu interfered in the match.
In their attempt to gain revenge on CM Punk, they ended up costing Randy Orton the match.
That didn't sit well with the former World Heavyweight Champion, so he decided to kick Ted DiBiase in the head.
Twisted
In most cases, when one wrestler kicks another wrestler in the head, this usually leads to a feud.
However, WWE looks to be going in the direction of having that kick bond the two.
Randy Orton's character stated that he wanted to kick some sense into Ted DiBiase.
Rather than having a nurturing mentor-pupil relationship, WWE looks to be going with the tough love routine.
It would be a good move for WWE to have Randy Orton roughing up Cody Rhodes and Manu in the following weeks as well.
Then, they can have all three guys stay off of television for a few weeks. They can make their surprise returns during a title match to help Randy Orton out.
Future Turn
By having Randy Orton physically and verbally abusing Ted DiBiase, WWE has planted the seeds for an eventual babyface turn.
Remember the potential that Randy Orton displayed when he was playing a secondary role in Evolution?
Ted DiBiase can fill that role.
The kid has "future world champion" written all over him, and if WWE plays this storyline right, then he'll be on an advance program to get there.
The company needs to draw on Randy Orton's major heel heat to elevate Ted DiBiase.
Closing Thoughts
WWE has definitely stumbled upon a storyline that is going to keep fans entertained if it can be done right. |
