Survivor Series Teams

According to legend, the Survivor Series concept came to be because WWE wanted to capitalize on the huge rivalry between Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant. Since the two legendary wrestlers had already worked a match at Wrestlemania, the company wanted to come up with another way for them to face one another.

That concept led to the WWE putting Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant on opposing teams. On one side, you had Hulk Hogan, Paul Orndorff, Don Muraco, Ken Patera, and Bam Bam Bigelow. Across from them was Andre the Giant, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, Butch Reed, and Rick Rude. The company also brilliantly decided to add an elimination stipulation to the match.

Some classic battles have ensued in the years after. We've also seen some exciting teams thrown together at the Survivor Series.
