Matt Hardy Signs With WWE

by Jack Windham
November 26, 2008

Matt Hardy has quietly signed another contract to remain with WWE for another few years.

Hardy Signs With WWE

With the eyes and ears of the wrestling world all focused on other things, Matt Hardy has managed to slip under the radar and signed a contract extension with WWE.

Over the weekend, wrestling fans were kept busy with several things involving the Survivor Series.

We saw Edge and John Cena both making their returns by winning the top championships on their respective brands.

We saw wrestling fans collectively hold their breaths as they tried to figure out whether or not Jeff Hardy was really found unconscious in a hotel room.

Prior to all of that, wrestling fans had their eyes and ears focused on Christian Cage, who will soon decide which wrestling company he will work for.

Just like he has for much of his wrestling career, Matt Hardy gets something done and very little people notice how important it is.

Great Move

While he's not nearly as popular as Jeff Hardy, the current ECW Heavyweight Champion is an extremely important signing for WWE.

Matt Hardy still maintains one of the bigger fanbases in the entire WWE.

He might not dazzle you with high flying moves, but he does provide great in-ring work. He's also very versatile, capable of adapting to a variety of opponents.

His merchandise sales are generally tied in with his little brother, so that makes him a valuable commodity.

Plus, by signing Matt Hardy, the company has been able to keep him from leaving for TNA.

Matt Hardy to TNA

The possibility of Matt Hardy leaving WWE to join TNA was very slim; some might even say that it was non existent.

Matt Hardy has always been very loyal to WWE, even when the company released him after his girlfriend cheated on him with another wrestler.

He's basically been a model employee for the company for 10 years now.

TNA doesn't have a lot of room left in their main event scene to sign wrestlers, but Matt Hardy would have definitely been an exception.

For the record, though, Matt Hardy does not have anything negative to say about TNA.

He simply chooses not to go work there because WWE is where he wants to be.

Closing Thoughts

I'm a huge fan of Matt Hardy, so seeing him being rewarded with a nice new contract puts a smile on my face.
