Kenny Dykstra Released

by Jack Windham
November 10, 2008

The man who was a self-proclaimed future hall of famer won't be getting that chance anytime soon now that WWE has released him.

Kenny Dykstra Released

Earlier this month, Linda McMahon stated that WWE was looking to slash operating costs by approximately $20 million.

That meants that several WWE stars were going to be released from their contracts.

Thus far, we've seen Super Crazy, Elijah Burke, Lena Yada, Paul London, and others being released from WWE.

Today, we find out that Kenny Dykstra has been released by WWE as well.

Future Hall of Famer

On camera, Kenny Dykstra liked to boast that he was going to some day become a WWE Hall of Famer.

It's a line that was believed not only by Kenny Dykstra himself, but it was believed by some in management and by some legends themselves.

In an interview with the UK Sun, Bret "the Hitman" Hart once stated that Kenny Dykstra reminded him of a young Steve Austin.

Bret Hart truly believed that Kenny Dykstra could become a big star for WWE.

Since he's just 22 years of age, there was still plenty of time for him to develop into the superstar that everyone was hoping that he would become.

Bad Attitude

One of the things that kept Kenny Dykstra from being pushed was his backstage behaviour.

There have been several reports that Kenny Dykstra was a bit difficult to deal with backstage.

In fact, there's a real life feud between Kenny Dykstra and Randy Orton that once involved a fight at a bar.

One could say that all of the early praises that Kenny Dykstra received went straight to his head.

However, that's not an excuse.

Second Chance

Since Kenny Dykstra is only 22 years of age, it's not completely out of the question for him to be given a second chance by the company a few years down the road.

When you have a good look and are young, there's always the possibility of catching on with WWE.

Look at Chris Masters. Ever since he's been released, there are many that believe that he'll get another chance again in WWE because of his looks and his age (he's only 25 years old).

The same could hold true for Kenny Dykstra.

Closing Thoughts

I honestly don't think we've seen the last of Kenny Dykstra.
