Jeff Hardy's Heel Turn

After watching Smackdown, everyone is wondering whether or not Jeff Hardy will make a full fledged heel turn.
Jeff Hardy's Heel Turn
Wrestling fans are wondering if Jeff Hardy will be turning heel soon after watching him clobber several wrestlers with a steel chair on Smackdown.
The Miz, John Morrison, Vladimir Kozlov, and even the Undertaker were victims of his rage.
This was not the same Jeff Hardy that danced and posed for the audience. This was not the same Jeff Hardy that won over fans with his high risk moves.
This was a different Jeff Hardy. One that is dangerously close to turning heel.
Ramifications
Early on in his career, Jeff Hardy was a heel as he and his brother were paired up with Gangrel in the New Brood.
After they turned babyface again, though, their popularity skyrocketed and their merchandise was moving off the shelves at record pace.
Since then, WWE hasn't ever toyed with turning Jeff Hardy into a heel again.
There's a major fear from the business side of things when it comes to turning Jeff Hardy into a heel.
Will fans still buy his merchandise if he's not a babyface? Will fans still buy tickets to go see him as a heel?
If WWE feels that their profits will be affected by a heel turn, then chances are, it's not going to happen.
An Added Edge
Instead of turning heel, this could just be WWE's way of adding more character to Jeff Hardy.
His in-ring persona very much resembles his real life personality, which is quite laid back.
In the past, when Jeff Hardy lost a big match, he would simply appear at the next televised show acting like nothing happened.
Since his passion has been questioned in real life, it makes sense for WWE to have his passion questioned on television.
His character shouldn't accept losing two big title matches on pay per view.
Jeff Hardy is finally showing some ruthless aggression in his chase of the elusive WWE Heavyweight Championship.
That ruthless aggression will make his title win seem all the more special when (and if) it happens.
Closing Thoughts
I'd much rather see Jeff Hardy become a babyface with an edge than for him to turn heel. |
