Chuck Palumbo Leaving WWE?

by Jack Windham
November 6, 2008

With his contract coming to an end soon, will Chuck Palumbo end up leaving WWE?

Palumbo Leaving

Chuck Palumbo's contract with WWE is set to expire pretty soon (rumor has it that it will expire before the end of the year).

With the way things stand right now, it looks like WWE will opt not to renew his contract and allow him to leave the company.

Chuck Palumbo hasn't really been used by the company much this year.

In fact, the last time that anyone even heard about Chuck Palumbo was when he was moved during the WWE Draft Lottery in June.

Of course, he hasn't been seen on television since being drafted.

Beyond Expectations

Chuck Palumbo has been in the business a lot longer than most people know.

The former WCW Power Plant trainee has been wrestling for approximately 10 years now.

He showed some promise in WCW as a newcomer, but very few people thought that he would last 7 years in WWE after the company picked him up from WCW's ashes.

However, he managed to last a very long time in WWE (with a little break when he was released in 2004).

Many Chances

Chuck Palumbo has received as many chances at success as cats have lives.

When he was first brought into WWE, he was still doing the Natural Born Thrillers gimmick.

After that, WWE repackaged him with a homosexual gimmick and paired him with Billy Gunn.

In 2003, he was again repackaged, this time as an Italian guy in the Full Blooded Italians stable.

A year later, and he was Custom Chuck P, a mechanic, who mainly worked on Sunday Night Heat.

After he was rehired by WWE, Chuck Palumbo came back with a biker gimmick. He received some decent pops, but a lot of people attribute that to the motorcycle entrance itself.

Other Options

While he's a very solid overall worker, it doesn't look like his stock is going to be high enough to warrant a contract with TNA.

However, Chuck Palumbo does have two friends working down in Mexico that are currently trying to get him a job down there.

Jon Hugger (formerly known as Johnny the Bull) is currently down in AAA. Mark Jindrak has become a very big star down in CMLL.

Closing Thoughts

I've followed Chuck Palumbo's career since he started out in WCW as a new foe for Lex Luger.

I like the guy, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if WWE decided to allow him to leave in a few weeks.
