TNA No Surrender 2008 Preview

The annual TNA No Surrender pay per view is upon us this weekend, and it's got a couple of interesting matches.
TNA No Surrender 2008
When looking over this pay per view, it's quite obvious that TNA is banking on the main event fatal four way match as the big sell.
The rest of the card doesn't carry a lot of hype, but the matchups do have potential to produce some quality in-ring action, though.
Four Ways to Glory
It's very clear that the main event of No Surrender is designed to draw in the buyrates.
TNA placed four of their biggest stars in the same match.
Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, and Booker T don't necessarily need the title right now, so chances are, Samoa Joe is walking away from this match with the TNA title.
MMA Maybe
Frank Trigg will be basically making his debut by facing off against AJ Styles in an MMA match.
Of course, it's not going to be a legitimate MMA match. It will be scripted.
I can see this ending with AJ Styles challenging Frank Trigg to a wrestling match at the next pay per view.
Double Knockout
TNA once again does something that WWE is unable to do; they're doing two female wrestling matches on the same pay per view.
Taylor Wilde will be defending the TNA Knockouts Championship against Angelina Love.
I don't expect a title change to happen here, but it should be a pretty decent match.
To be honest, though, I'm much more excited about the Falls Count Anywhere match between ODB and Awesome Kong.
That has potential to just be the most entertaining match on the entire No Surrender pay per view.
X Rated
The X division guys are getting plenty of shine at the pay per view tonight.
Petey Williams, Consequences Creed, and Sheik Abdul Bashir (formerly Daivari in WWE) will be competing in a triple threat match for the X division title.
Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal continues their rivalry. This time, though, they're going to do it in a ladder match.
Filler
The rest of the matches on No Surrender is basically filler.
Beer Money Inc and LAX are fighting over the tag team titles, but there's not much hype behind it.
Team 3D has been moved down a notch to work a match against Abyss and Matt Morgan; it just seems too random.
The Rock & Rave Infection will be facing the Prince Justice Brotherhood (Curry Man, Super Eric, Shark Boy) in a match designed to entertain younger fans.
Closing Thoughts
The in-ring action should be generally good. Plus, there's a good chance that we'll see Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley making an impact. |
