Rey Mysterio Signs New Contract

According to reports, Rey Mysterio has signed a new contract to remain with WWE for the next few years.

Uncertainty

A few weeks ago, we reported that Rey Mysterio was unhappy about his contract situation.

His main source of discontent was that he wasn't being paid nearly as much as the other top level wrestlers in the company.

Rey Mysterio started entertaining other offers in case he decided to walk away from WWE.

The AAA promotion down in Mexico wanted to bring him in to wrestle and become a movie star.

The movie offer was very tempting for Rey Mysterio.

In the end, though, he decided to sign a new contract with WWE to stay with the company.

Mysterio Signs New Contract

Despite concerns about his health, WWE decided to offer Rey Mysterio a brand new contract that lasts 5 years.

Rey Mysterio wanted to keep his options open, so he decided to sign for only 3 years.

Another thing that Rey Mysterio requested from WWE was for them to consider him for a future movie role.

Since Rey Mysterio wears a mask in WWE, it will be interesting to see how the company would use him in a movie (if they decide to give him a role).

Impending Push

Now that Rey Mysterio has signed another contract with WWE, it is expected that the company will give him a nice push in the upcoming months as a reward.

His current feud with Kane should result in Rey Mysterio coming out on top.

With World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho needing babyfaces to work with, it wouldn't be a shock to see Rey Mysterio being elevated into the main event.

A new contract doesn't necessarily mean that Rey Mysterio will be winning the World Heavyweight Championshp again, though.

There are many within the company that don't view Rey Mysterio as a legitimate candidate to hold the world title.

That doesn't mean that he's not valuable to the company, though.

They signed him to a new contract for a reason. He's still one of the most popular wrestlers in the entire company.

Closing Thoughts

Regardless of how unhappy Rey Mysterio is with how he is paid in relations to the other wrestlers in the company, WWE is still the best option for him.
