Randy Orton's Proteges

On Monday Night Raw this week, the writers hinted that Randy Orton could possibly be picking up some new proteges.
The Set Up
Randy Orton made his return on Monday Night Raw last night, and he got a few things off his chest.
During his speech, Randy Orton criticized Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase for allowing Cryme Tyme to steal their tag team title belts.
At first, it sounded a bit random that he would choose to call out those two guys.
However, as the program progressed, it became abundantly clear that it's designed to lead to something.
Later on in the show, after Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes were successfully able to retrieve their belts, they bumped into Randy Orton, who expressed his approval.
Randy Orton's Proteges
If the plan is to have Randy Orton mentor Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, then I'm all for it.
Far too often, wrestling fans come up with stable ideas where mismatches wrestlers are put together simply because it sounds like a good idea.
An alliance between Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, and Randy Orton actually is a good idea.
The three of them have similar characters where they're young and cocky.
It would also makes sense in the storyline for young guys like Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase to look up to someone like Randy Orton, who has accomplished more than they have.
Plus, since Randy Orton isn't old yet, it still fits their character to not hate him.
Possible Stable Members
If WWE is going to put Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Ted DiBiase together, they might as well add another wrestler or two and make it a full stable.
There's a couple of wrestlers that could be good fits with the group.
Someone like Lance Cade could easily fit the "young and cocky" mode. Being in this stable could do more for him than being Chris Jericho's occasional sidekick.
Primo Colon is another young wrestler. His recent debut was quite lackluster, so he could use something to kick start his career.
WWE also has a couple of developmental wrestlers (some of whom have already been called up to the main roster) that could fit as well.
Closing Thoughts
Right now, the Raw brand really needs a jolt to make things more interesting. A fresh heel stable could be just that. |
