It's starting to seem like every time that WWE is ready to put the WWE Heavyweight Championship on Jeff Hardy, something happens to change up the plans.
Earlier this year, Jeff Hardy was on the path to winning his first ever world title, but a drug suspension cost him a spot at Wrestlemania and a chance at the title.
The word going around was that Jeff Hardy was the odds on favorite to take the WWE Heavyweight Championship from Triple H at No Mercy.
Now, though, plans may have been changed.
Jeff Hardy was removed from a flight in Tennessee earlier this week. The airport employees escorted him away from the plane after he was deemed to be too intoxicated to fly.
Wrestling is still a business. The bottom line is profit.
That reason right there means that you can't completely eliminate the possibility of Jeff Hardy winning the WWE Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy.
The guy still sells a ton of merchandise. A lot of the weekly viewers tune in to see him.
Plus, putting the title on Jeff Hardy provides WWE with something that it sorely needs right now; a buzz. |
Right now, things are pretty stale with Triple H as the WWE Heavyweight Championship.
His match with the Great Khali at Summerslam was better than expected, but overall, that feud sapped a lot of his momentum.
The Championship Scramble match was entertaining, but it didn't really add much momentum for Triple H.
When a champion becomes stale, then there's a good chance that he can lose the title at any given time.
For a while there, things just made sense for Jeff Hardy to take the belt away from Triple H. However, after the little incident at the airport earlier this week, it might not happen.
If Triple H wins this match at No Mercy, then it'll be viewed as punishment for Jeff Hardy.
WWE would then have to figure out a new challenger for Triple H.
A title feud against the Undertaker would be interesting right now, especially considering the fact that the two are rumored to be headed towards a backstage showdown.
WWE can even use this opportunity to bring Edge back into the fold by putting him into a title program with Triple H.
Expect the Game to retain at No Mercy. |
