Bad Timing For Mr Kennedy
by Jack Windham
September 3, 2008
There's just something about Mr Kennedy's timing that just never seems to work out for him.
On the Shelf
Mr Kennedy had surgery this week to repair an injury to his labrum.
At first, he attempted to rehab the injury so that he could avoid surgery, but the doctor realized that it wasn't going to happen.
Now that he's had the surgery, Mr Kennedy is going to need 6-8 months of recovery time.
If WWE chooses to sign him to another contract, then he might be able to return by Wrestlemania.
Bad Timing
The timing for this injury is especially bad for Mr Kennedy since his contract is about to expire in the next few weeks.
There's actually talks that WWE is considering the option of allow Mr Kennedy to walk away from the company.
While everyone does realize his potential to become a superstar one day, they also see the cons of keeping him around.
Mr Kennedy has been a bit injury prone over the last couple of years.
Plus, he's still hurting a bit after being caught lying to fans around the world during an interview about steroids.
In fact, it was a widespread belief that Mr Kennedy was in line for a huge push in the Vince McMahon Illegitimate Son storyline.
That push never came to be after the steroid incident (Hornswoggle was given the push instead).
Investment
It's very unlikely that Mr Kennedy follows Mick Foley to TNA.
While he does have his flaws, Mr Kennedy simply has too much main event potential for WWE to let him walk.
With WWE recently throwing out big money to take away Gail Kim, it's obvious that the company is a bit concerned about the competition.
Signing Mr Kennedy to another contract would accomplish two things for WWE.
They can keep him around in hopes that he'll one day fulfill his potential and become a world champion.
Plus, it also prevents him from going to TNA and becoming a big star down there.
Closing Thoughts
This is a situation that's well worth paying attention to.
I still think Mr Kennedy is going to become a huge star in this business. He's got a great presence, incredible mic skills, and solid in-ring skills.
The guy just needs some luck. |
