Ladder Match! Michaels vs Jericho

WWE has basically just scheduled the match of the year for No Mercy. It's going to be a ladder match between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho.

The War Continues

During the weekend of Unforgiven, there were talks that Shawn Michaels was going to be taking some time off to recover from his injuries.

Wrestling fans were able to accept (and embrace) that idea because they wanted their beloved legend to be able to stick around for a longer time.

On Monday Night Raw this week, wrestling fans were given quite a pleasant surprise.

Shawn Michaels made his return after just being gone for a week.

Not only did he make his return, but he's also coming back to continue his war with Chris Jericho.

The Next Step

The next logical step up (clever pun intended) for Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho is a ladder match.

Last month, the two engaged in a brilliant Unsanctioned Match.

That match itself was brilliant booking as well because the match type fit perfectly into the storyline of them wanting so badly to tear at each other.

Despite all of the hype that the match carried, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels managed to live up to expectations.

Many had felt that the unsanctioned match would be the climax, but WWE managed to take it another step.

The ladder match is perfect.

The World on the Line

A ladder match between Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels would have been more than enough to sell a pay per view.

When you throw in the World Heavyweight Championship into the match, then you have some even more special.

WWE doesn't have to do much to script out the rest of the storyline here.

Shawn Michaels can basically state that he defeated Chris Jericho at Unforgiven, and he can do it again at No Mercy.

Since Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels have been doing much of the storyline work anyways, the writers can be utilized to build up the rest of the show.

Fans will be heavily interested in seeing whether or not WWE will give Shawn Michaels one last run as champion before he retires.

With Shawn Michaels as champion, a lot more fans will tune in to see it because it will definitely be a memorable last run.

Closing Thoughts

I am heavily anticipating this match. I'm also anticipating it to be the match of the year.
