That's a catchy title, huh? WWE needs to make it actually happen on Sunday to create a buzz again.
Down Period
Right now, there's a bit of a down period in WWE. Things just aren't as exciting as they used to be.
Of course, some of that can be blamed at all of the injuries that the superstars have suffered.
However, WWE should be able to do a bit more to get people interested in the product.
The fact that only 7,000 or so tickets have been sold for Unforgiven really should light a fire under Vince McMahon.
He needs to create a huge buzz.
Jeff Hardy Wins WWE Title
To create a huge buzz, Vince McMahon needs to let Jeff Hardy win the WWE title.
It's a buzz card that WWE has been holding on to for a while now.
Management knows that the moment that Jeff Hardy wins the WWE title, there's going to be an instant buzz created among wrestling fans.
It's understandable that WWE would want to save that card for a rainy day.
At the same time, though, they don't want to save that card until the flood reaches our waist.
Despite not being pushed as heavily as he was a few months ago, Jeff Hardy still maintains a high level of popularity.
In fact, he's one of those rare wrestlers that will remain popular regardless of what the company does with him.
Having him win the WWE title, though, will boost that popularity to a level that we haven't seen before.
Concerns
There's concerns with Jeff Hardy winning the WWE title due to the fact that he could possibly fall into his old habits again.
WWE definitely cannot afford the negative attention from the media if their champion is fired because of drugs.
However, they should still take that risk because even if Jeff Hardy wasn't the WWE champion, his firing is going to gain some media attention anyways.
While the media might not know much about Jeff Hardy, they do know that he's one of the most popular stars in the entire company.
With a little bit of research, they can definitely see that he's one of the top merchandise sellers in the entire industry.
Closing Thoughts
WWE needs to pull the trigger on this at Unforgiven. Like the legendary Harley Race once yelled at Lex Luger, "Now's the time!" |
