Jeff Hardy Airport Incident

by Jack Windham
September 18, 2008

The big mystery surrounding Jeff Hardy's incident at the airport in Tennessee has finally been revealed.

Airport Incident

A newspaper in Tennessee has shed some light on the incident that occurred with Jeff Hardy at the Nashville International Airport.

Jeff Hardy was prevented from boarding a flight on Southwest Airlines because he was simply too intoxicated.

By all accounts, Jeff Hardy was quite cooperative with airport personnel as they escorted him away from the plane.

He did not put up a fight. He didn't create a scene.

Jeff Hardy simply was escorted away from the plane and took a later flight.

If there's rumors out there about Jeff Hardy being led away in handcuffs, go ahead and disregard that because it's absolutely not true.

The Incident's Impact

Fortunately, this incident was not serious enough to where WWE would be forced to fire Jeff Hardy from the company.

However, with that in mind, don't assume that the incident will be overlooked.

For the record, the reports are simply stating that he was not allowed on board a plane because he appeared intoxicated.

That does not automatically mean that he was on some sort of recreational drug.

There's a chance that Jeff Hardy might just have been drinking.

Through his blog, Matt Hardy did mention that he went out with a few of the wrestlers to have a celebratory dinner.

From a storyline standpoint, this incident might have cost Jeff Hardy as much as his 2 month suspension did earlier in the year.

Back then, it was a widely believed fact that Jeff Hardy was scheduled to win the Money in the Bank match.

That win was supposed to have led to him capturing his first world title.

When he came back from suspension, management had to be careful to not push him immediately.

Now that they've built him back up, it was believed that Jeff Hardy had a really strong chance of winning the WWE title from Triple H at No Mercy.

With his airport incident, though, plans may have to be changed.

Closing Thoughts

I'm breathing a sigh of relief because it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined it to be, but at the same time, though, I'm also shaking my head.
