Mick Foley to TNA

It's looking more and more likely that hardcore legend Mick Foley will end up in TNA in the next few weeks.
Foley's Farewell
For those of you that aren't aware yet, Mick Foley's tenure with WWE is coming to a close in the next few days.
The 3 time former WWE Heavyweight Champion is about to become a free agent in the next few days when his contract expires.
There's two main reasons as to why Mick Foley would walk away from WWE.
One reason is that he was extremely unhappy with how much control and interference Vince McMahon was having on his ability to do his job as a color commentator.
The other reason is that Mick Foley yearns for a return to the wrestling ring, which is a request that Vince McMahon rejected.
TNA's Impact
One of the impact that TNA has created in the wrestling world is that they provide another option for wrestlers.
In the past, performers might have been more reluctant to depart WWE even if they're unhappy because there simply was a lack of options.
TNA might not be able to compensate the wrestlers as well as WWE can, but they are another option.
Perfect Fit
TNA is a perfect fit for Mick Foley for a couple of reasons.
First of all, TNA can enable the hardcore legend the opportunity to step back into the ring while having a schedule that allows him to be at home more often.
Secondly, TNA already has started a multi-tiered storyline involving legends against newer wrestlers.
Mick Foley could easily be inserted into the storyline as a member of the legends faction with Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash, and Sting.
Hall of Fame Status
While Vince McMahon has forgiven some former wrestlers, he's also been known to hold grudges.
There's those that believe that Mick Foley may be jeopardizing his once sure-fire induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
WWE publicly denies being concerned with TNA, but the truth of the matter is that the #2 promotion in the US does provide some competition.
For Mick Foley to leave WWE and head on over to the competition right now is a risky maneuver.
Fortunately for Mick Foley, though, it's going to be hard for WWE to neglect his accomplishments because most fans still remember them.
Then again, we're still waiting for Randy Savage to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Closing Thoughts
If TNA can finalize the deal, then this would be a major addition to their "legends vs new guys" storyline. |
