Rey Mysterio to Raw

In a shocking move, the first draft pick of the night was Rey Mysterio being sent over from Smackdown to Monday Night Raw.
Rey Mysterio to Raw
Very few people were expecting to see Rey Mysterio being moved away from Smackdown.
The reason why most people thought he wasn't going anywhere was because he was vital to the Hispanic market that Smackdown was able to draw.
Of course, increasing ratings on Monday Night Raw might be more important than keeping that market happy.
That's exactly what Rey Mysterio is going to be able to do for Monday Night Raw. He'll help raise the ratings.
Rey Mysterio has one of the biggest fan base among the current active wrestlers in WWE.
Fresh Feuds
I'm writing this article minutes after Rey Mysterio was moved over, so I have no idea who else is being moved.
Barring any major surprises the rest of the night, WWE has some potentially great matchups waiting for Rey Mysterio.
When Rey Mysterio entered the ring on Monday Night Raw tonight and shook Triple H's hands, that was a foreshadow for a future matchup.
Rey Mysterio might not ever win the WWE Heavyweight Championship on Raw, but he can still be a valuable member of the main event scene.
Having Rey Mysterio challenging Triple H for the title on a pay per view would provide the fans with a fresh matchup.
During the Eddie Guerrero tribute show, we got a glimpse of a potentially classic feud for Rey Mysterio.
That night, Rey Mysterio was involved in a dream match against Shawn Michaels.
Of course, they gave a good match, but they didn't want to give out a classic match. That should be saved for a pay per view later on this year.
Familiar Foes
There's also familiar opponents for Rey Mysterio on Raw. He can be paired up against Randy Orton and JBL again.
WWE could also revisit a great WCW feud by having Rey Mysterio feuding with Chris Jericho.
With Chris Jericho becoming a heel again, that feud could be a borderline classic in WWE.
Of course, that's barring any of those guys being traded over to Smackdown.
Not really a big loss if those guys leave because Rey Mysterio would still have plenty of other wrestlers to feud with.
Closing Thoughts
Great move by WWE to shake things up. Taking a huge star from Smackdown and sending him to Raw does create quite a buzz. |
