Torrie Wilson Released

It's a sad day in professional wrestling as WWE just announced that they have released the lovely Torrie Wilson.
Torrie Wilson Released
The WWE website has confirmed that Torrie Wilson has been released by the company.
Torrie Wilson has been in the wrestling business since 1999 when she made her debut in WCW.
She has been with WWE since 2001.
Her release from WWE comes as both a surprise and as something that was expected.
Expected
In November of 2007 , Torrie Wilson left the road to find suitable treatment for her injured back.
She attempted several methods of treatment, but none were effective enough to allow her to return to the wrestling ring.
When doctors told her that she should retire from the wrestling ring, many expected Torrie Wilson to be released.
Surprise
In April, Torrie Wilson fans received a bit of good news as she started negotiating with WWE to become a public relations figure for the company.
It was believed that WWE would pair her up with Ric Flair and allow the two to do promotional work for the company.
Now that she's released, it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
When Ric Flair left the wrestling ring to become a public relations person for WWE, they did not announce his release like they're doing with Torrie Wilson.
What's Next?
WWE dropped the ball on this one because Torrie Wilson could still have been productive as a manager.
She's still a very popular figure in wrestling, and her popularity could have definitely helped out a midcard wrestler.
Torrie Wilson could have been used as Edge's heel girlfriend after his storyline with Vickie Guerrero ended.
In the past, she's played that role quite well in WCW.
Now would be a good time for TNA to swoop in and sign Torrie Wilson.
She obviously cannot wrestle again, so the plan would be to use her as a manager.
TNA could easily elevate Robert Roode by having him bring her out as his surprise replacement for Payton Banks.
That or TNA could use her with Kevin Nash. The two had a lot of chemistry (comedic and non comedic) together in WCW.
Closing Thoughts
It's a shame that we won't get to see Torrie Wilson on TV every week. Hopefully, TNA can fix that for us. |
