Bobby Lashley to TNA

by Jack Windham
May 9, 2008

Now that he's no longer contractually obligated to WWE, Bobby Lashley is free to sign with TNA now.

Bobby Lashley to TNA

On Thursday, Bobby Lashley's contract with WWE officially ended, which means that they can no longer prevent him from signing with TNA.

Bobby Lashley was able to get a full release from WWE (as opposed to Brock Lesnar's restricted release) due to some circumstances.

Sources state that Bobby Lashley agreed to not make comments about Michael Hayes' behavior backstage in exchange for being able to sign with TNA.

Recruiting Process

Booker T and Kurt Angle have both been heavily recruiting Bobby Lashley to join TNA.

Kurt Angle has stated that he keeps in touch with Bobby Lashley through the phone.

Bobby Lashley will be working for Booker T's wrestling promotion down in Houston later on this month.

More than likely, the two will have a serious discussion about Bobby Lashley joining TNA.

WWE Reject

There's a handful of WWE fans who have already started bashing Bobby Lashley in case he signs with TNA.

The term "WWE reject" has been thrown around in a couple of places.

Of course, calling Bobby Lashley a "WWE reject" automatically makes it obvious that you're a biased wrestling fan.

Even a fool would have trouble realizing that Bobby Lashley was a main event wrestler in WWE.

Had he stuck around, Vince McMahon would have definitely put the WWE Heavyweight Championship around his waist.

If TNA was able to sign Bobby Lashley, then this would be a tremendous boost for their credibility.

This is a lot bigger than signing Chris Masters, Rob Conway, or Eugene.

Potential Matchups

The obvious matchups that TNA would have to do if they picked up Bobby Lashley would be against Kurt Angle and Booker T.

Those are big name guys, and they can still headline pay per views.

However, the more intriguing feuds for Bobby Lashley will be against the likes of Samoa Joe, Tomko, Matt Morgan, Scott Steiner, Christian Cage, Robert Roode, James Storm, Rhino, and Sting.

Those would be fresh matchups that we haven't seen before.

Closing Thoughts

Bobby Lashley isn't going to "save" TNA, but signing a big name wrestler like him would help out quite a bit.
