Triple H to Smackdown

by Jack Windham
April 10, 2008

It's hard to imagine Triple H leaving Monday Night Raw, but there's a chance that it could happen at the upcoming WWE Draft Lottery.

Heavily Recruited

Right now, Smackdown head writer Michael Hayes has been heavily pushing management to send Triple H over to his brand.

While most people have already eliminated any chance of that happening, I'm not going to completely rule it out since Michael Hayes does have quite a bit of pull backstage.

When Bobby Lashley was an upcoming star, he expressed dissatisfaction with working with Michael Hayes, so management went ahead and sent him away to ECW.

Last year, Michael Hayes really wanted a veteran who can work the mic, so he convinced management to trade Ric Flair over from Monday Night Raw even though he was very much against leaving the same brand that Triple H and Shawn Michaels were on.

Michael Hayes is in really good with Vince McMahon, so if he plays his card right, he might be able to do the impossible and get Triple H over to Smackdown.

Smackdown Surge

If Michael Hayes can pull it off, then this would be a tremendous coup for Smackdown.

For years, Smackdown has been viewed as the WWE's secondary show. With guys like Triple H and Undertaker on the show, it would feel like an equal for Monday Night Raw.

Also, with Triple H having a lot of power backstage, there's no chance that he's going to let Smackdown feel like a secondary show.

He'll fight with management to get more main event slots on the pay per view for Smackdown matches. He'll also fight for major storylines to be included on Smackdown more often.

Hunting Hunter

On Smackdown, Triple H's character would be rejuvenated a bit since there's a handful of fresh matchups available.

First and foremost, we can finally see title feud between Edge and Triple H. It's a match that would need to be built up for several months, with the match happening at Wrestlemania 25.

A feud between Triple H and Rey Mysterio would also be big enough to headline Wrestlemania 25. Of course, that all depends on whether or not Rey Mysterio can remain healthy that long.

It's also been a while since we've seen the Undertaker and Triple H in a feud. That would be something cool to revisit.

Triple H can also be used to help elevate MVP in a feud. That would give the current WWE United States Heavyweight Champion even more credibility.

Last but not least, wrestling fans can finally enjoy the dream match pitting Triple H against Dave Taylor. That's a match that's 10 years in the making now.

Closing Thoughts

It would be great if it happened, but there's not much of a chance of Triple H moving to Smackdown.
