Konnan Sues TNA

by Jack Windham
March 21, 2008

In a move that was expected, Konnan has officially filed a lawsuit against TNA.

The Dispute

The root of the dispute between Konnan and TNA is the fact that he felt that the company should have paid for his medical bills.

While he was working as a mouthpiece for LAX, Konnan was dealing with various health issues, one of which was a hip that needed to be replaced.

Konnan wanted TNA to pay for the operation to repair his hips. TNA, however, didn't feel that they were obligated to.

A compromise was made when TNA offered to loan Konnan the money so that he could have the surgery.

It was around this time that Konnan learned that he also needed to replace his kidneys.

The bitterness grew around this time as Konnan was desperately seeking a way to regain his health.

Fortunately for him, a fan donated his kidneys to Konnan.

Konnan has since recovered and is currently working down in Mexico for the AAA promotion.

Race Issues

There are reports that Konnan will also be using racial discrimination allegations in his lawsuit against TNA.

Not sure how smart of a move this is for Konnan since TNA has had a history of pushing minorities.

Ron Killings was the NWA World Heavyweight Champion twice in his TNA career. He also held the tag team championships 3 times.

Brother Devon, Jay Lethal, and Awesome Kong are among the recent minorities that have held championships in TNA.

Konnan himself was involved in a big push while he was in the company. He was pushed while he was a member of 3 Live Kru and a member of LAX.

Overly Biased

The early reaction to this situation from the internet wrestling community has been a bit disturbing.

There's a lot of fans that are already bashing TNA for being guilty in this situation. These very same fans haven't even taken the time to look through the facts before coming to their final judgment.

Then again, these are the very same fans who would be bashing Konnan if the lawsuit was against WWE.

Using something like this as fuel to bash TNA is the equivalent of bashing WWE for Chris Benoit's death.

It's just something that shouldn't be done.

Closing Thoughts

More than likely, this will get settled out of court. Hopefully, that happens sooner rather than later.
