ROB VAN DAM AT WRESTLEMANIA
There are rumors floating around right now that Rob Van Dam might be one of the surprise entrants in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal at Wrestlemania 30. He and WWE have been trying to figure out a way for him to make his return, and when this match was announced, it opened the possibility of him returning sooner than expected.

Prior to Wrestlemania 30, there were plans in place to push Alberto Del Rio towards Big E Langston and the WWE Intercontinental Championship, so when the tournament was announced, many viewed Del Rio as a top candidate to win. However, management has changed their minds on that push, as evident by the fact that Del Rio lost to Rob Van Dam on Monday Night Raw this week.

Since rumors leaked that he was going to be returning during the Wrestlemania 30 battle royal, WWE opted to pull Rob Van Dam from the event. Instead, he is now being heavily rumored to be making his return on Monday Night Raw, as management wanted to provide fans with plenty of surprises to kick start the new television season.

While his potential involvement at Wrestlemania 30 has yet to be confirmed by WWE, Rob Van Dam will certainly be in New Orleans this weekend, as he is one of the slew of professional wrestlers who have been booked for the WrestleCon event taking place in the Louisiana. While a confirmed date has not been given, we now have a narrowed down time frame for when Rob Van Dam is expected to return to WWE. The former WCW champion wants the Undertaker, and he is not shy about stating that publicly. Vince McMahon and his staff have worked diligently to prevent independent wrestling companies from being able to do shows in the San Francisco and San Jose areas during the same weekend as their big event. A lot of the buildings in the area have agreed to boycott independent promoters from renting the place.

It is no secret that WWE would love for the Rock to be the centerpiece attraction at Wrestlemania 31. However, the possibility of that happening is becoming more and more unclear by the day. The studios have decided to move the release date of Fast and Furious 7, which features Rock in a big role, up a bit. It will now be shown in the theaters a few days after Wrestlemania. That means that the Rock will be needed to travel the world to do promotion for the film. His availability to WWE is in question.

He didn't make the decision to drop the winning streak to Brock Lesnar, but he reportedly does not mind ending his career on the losing end of a match. WWE really wants him to be a main event performer, and being the last man standing in the 30 man battle royal just might be the way to make that happen. While it may be hard for a lot of fans to fathom, WWE may not be able to afford to bring the Rock back into the mix for Wrestlemania 31. The company is far from broke, but they have to be wiser about their spending since the valuation of the company has taken a severe dive. Rock is far from cheap since he has great name value. The two sides might not be able to come to an agreement that would see the legendary performer returning to WWE for another stint.

In a very exciting match, Seth Rollins outlasted Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Rob Van Dam and Jack Swagger to capture the briefcase at Money in the Bank 2014. WWE wants to continue the war between Ambrose and the Authority, so they had Kane coming out and providing assistance to Rollins. Despite the heel tactic to win the match, the Rollins victory was actually cheered by a good amount of fans.

Thanks to the help of Kane, Seth Rollins was able to climb the ladder uninterrupted and win the briefcase at Money in the Bank 2014. The Big Red Monster came to the ring and attacked Dean Ambrose to clear the path. Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Rob Van Dam were all laid out on the floor during the finale. WWE power couple Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out afterwards to congratulate Rollins.

One of the ideas being tossed around backstage in WWE is to utilize Rob Van Dam as an opponent for Alexander Rusev, who has been tearing through the lower card division. RVD still has some name value and a bit of a connection with the audience, so he can provide the newcomer with some much needed credibility before heading into a feud with John Cena down the line.

At Payback 2014, Wade Barrett successfully defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Rob Van Dam after picking up the pin fall victory, thanks to the Bull Hammer. The performers placed some doubt in that finish when it appeared that Barrett had injured his arm while smashing into the corner post after RVD ducked away from the move outside the ring.

Antonio Cesaro then won the match by pinning Rob Van Dam after delivering his Neutralizer finishing move on top of a trash can. Zeb Colter and Paul Heyman had minimal involvement.
