Fans celebrated in glee recently when it appeared that Steve Austin was going to be making a return to WWE. However, there should be some caution mixed in with that excitement. Austin has long stated that he would only do it if the deal was right. Management seems to be focused on Sting and Hulk Hogan at the moment, so negotiations with Austin have not made any progress.

When it was announced that the two sides had reached a contract agreement for a return, many were under the impression that we would be seeing plenty of Hulk Hogan on WWE television. The belief is that the two of them are simply promoting the upcoming Wrestlemania 31 pay per view.

To get an idea of why WWE pays Hulk Hogan so much money even though he can no longer be an in ring performer, simply look at how he was treated during the recent tour of Japan. Media and fans in that country treated the Hogan return as a much bigger thing that the actual WWE live events. Hogan's involvement alone helped to generate better numbers for WWE in Japan than they have been receiving over the last couple of years.

When Hulk Hogan decided to return to WWE, there were those that wondered if he took a lesser deal to return to the company. However, it looks like the opposite is actually true. Hogan has a huge guarantee in his deal, which means that WWE will pay him even if he does not make appearances. When he does show up, he gets a sizable amount of money for doing so. Hogan also negotiated a deal that enables him to work outside of WWE. The deal is said to be heavily favored towards Hogan.

Since it would be a must if he were to return to do another match, Hulk Hogan was asked recently if he could still perform his patented leg drop. The legendary WWE performer stated that he was physically unable to do that again, as the damage to his hips has been pretty severe. He still keeps open the possibility of working a heavily protected match, though.
