Now that word has spread about his release from the company, a lot of wrestling fans have been wondering what led to Justin Gabriel leaving WWE. While he has yet to make a public statement in regards to the matter, the belief is that he simply wanted more freedom as a wrestler. Management rarely used him on television, and he was never featured in a prominent role over the last year. Gabriel was essentially just a filler performer.

Since she is one of the most successful female performers on the international wrestling circuit, former TNA star Sarita has been naturally linked as a potential signing for Lucha Underground, a promotion that has been trying to gain ground in the United States. However, a contract signing is unlikely to happen. She recently rejected a deal because her current contract with CMLL prevents her from working shows for a competing promotion.

Regal inducting Bryan

While it is much too soon for the debate to take place, Daniel Bryan recently gave a response when asked who he would choose to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame some day. He opted to go with William Regal because he was the most influential person during his entire career. Bryan also stated that Regal would be a good choice because he is an excellent speaker and story teller. It also helps that Regal is still an employee with the company.

Roman Reigns wins Royal Rumble

In the main event of the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns stood supreme as the sole survivor. He eliminated Big Show and Kane, who ended up arguing with one another and brawling after an misunderstanding, simultaneously before finishing things off by getting rid of Rusev. WWE enlisted the help of The Rock to help put Reigns and the moment over. Fans were visibly angry at the results and expressed their disdain throughout the match.

Cena vs Lesnar vs Rollins

In one of the best matches in the history of the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar successfully retained the WWE Heavyweight Championship by pinning Seth Rollins after an F5. John Cena had been knocked out by a beautifully and masterfully executed Phoenix Splash from Rollins. Lesnar was made to look especially strong in the match because he came back to win after coming close to being stretched out because of a story line rib injury.

Bellas vs Natalya and Paige

In the third match of the Royal Rumble, Natalya and Paige were unsuccessful in their attempt to beat the evil twin divas. Nikki Bella and Brie Bella used their experience and teamwork to get the pin fall victory. The match was given a bit more time than WWE usually allots for their female performers, but it did not feel very special. Many stated that it was completely a filler match that unfortunately does not add much to the pay per view.

Usos vs Miz and Sandow

In the second match at the Royal Rumble, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso were able to retain the WWE tag team championship after pinning the Miz, who was knocked out by a flying splash. The commentators were instructed to sell the fact that the former world heavyweight champion had to do things on his own because Damien Sandow was on the arena floor. The belief is that the dissension story line is going to be picking up steam between the two.

Ascension vs New Age Outlaws

In the opening match of the Royal Rumble, Konnor and Viktor finally managed to get their first major victory since joining the main roster. After knocking Road Dogg out of the ring and delivering their tag team finisher to Billy Gunn, who looked extremely capable in the ring still, The Ascension picked up the pin fall victory over the New Age Outlaws. Management was hoping that the popular veterans could help provide the rub to the younger team.

WWE snow storm

During this time of year, Vince McMahon already has a million headaches because he is trying to make things perfect between the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania. He has another problem to deal with this week. Monday Night Raw and Smackdown are being held in Hartford and Boston respectively, and there is a severe snowstorm headed that way. Weather reports are stating that as much as 24 inches of snow could pound the area.
