In a best of three falls match for the tag team championship, New Day was successfully able to retain the belts by defeating Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro. The two teams split the first two match before Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston were able to capture the decisive fall. The duo was able to overcome a strong challenge from Kidd and Cesaro because Xavier Woods sneaked into the ring and pinned Cesaro without the referee recognizing him.

As some of you already know, plans change pretty often backstage in WWE. Originally, Kalisto and Sin Cara were supposed to challenge Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro for the tag team championship at Extreme Rules. However, management opted to change things up by giving the match to Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E Langston instead, even though the Lucha Dragons received really nice ovations from the live events during the Europe tour.

As good as NXT is, it appears that ROH is a better developmental program for WWE. All but two of their current male champions come from that promotion. Seth Rollins is the world champion. Daniel Bryan holds the Intercontinental Championship. Kevin Owens and Antonio Cesaro both hold titles. The only two guys that never worked for that promotion are Tyson Kidd and John Cena. The two divas champion never worked there.

Since WWE wants to regain some of the fans that they lost in Mexico, the company has plans on pushing the Lucha Dragons. The goal right now is to quickly build up Kalisto and Sin Cara, so that they can become the top contenders to the tag team championship currently held by Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro. The champions have some good momentum going right now, but management always leans towards business decisions.

In the opening match of the Wrestlemania kickoff show, Antonio Cesaro and Tyson Kidd managed to successfully retain the tag team championship in a match that also featured Big E Langston, Kofi Kingston, Diego, Fernando, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso. With Wrestlemania being less than two weeks away, WWE might need to call an audible with one of the championship matches. Initially, the Usos were scheduled to be one of the teams that challenged Antonio Cesaro and Tyson Kidd for the tag team belts, but Jey Uso suffered some sort of shoulder injury during the latest episode of Smackdown. There is no timetable for his return yet. His brother Jimmy Uso worked live events by himself.

It looks like WWE will actually showcase their tag team championship at Wrestlemania this year. As of right now, there are plans penciled in to do a title match featuring four different teams. Management is still undecided about a championship scramble or a simple fatal four way. The rumored contestants for the match are Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Tyson Kidd, Antonio Cesaro, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Big E Langston, Diego and Fernando.

For a while there, the belief was that WWE was going to throw several tag teams together and have them battling for the championship at Wrestlemania. However, it appears that the idea has been scrapped. The most likely scenario right now has Tyson Kidd, Antonio Cesaro and Natalya teaming up to take on Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Naomi in a mixed tag team match. The backup plan is to have the men do a traditional tag match.

While many are under the assumption that Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso are going to get a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championship at Wrestlemania, management might actually be heading in another direction. It could end up being a six person mixed tag team match instead. The Usos would team with Naomi, while Antonio Cesaro and Tyson Kidd would be paired up with Natalya. The belief is that this story could be an interesting one for Total Divas.
