As many of you already know, Alex Riley was robbed of a chance to work the Royal Rumble by WWE officials at the very last minute. He was quite upset about that, but obviously he got over it. Well, he is not done with his campaign to step away from the commentating table and climb back into the ring. Riley is pushing management to give him one of the available slots at the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal at Wrestlemania this year.

It looks like Alex Riley isn't ready to depart WWE just yet. Amid rumors that he was seeking his release from the company after being abruptly dropped from the Royal Rumble match, he showed up at NXT and started a program with one of the developmental wrestlers. It is said that he should be down there for at least a couple of weeks to finish the feud. No word yet on whether or not management will put him back on the main roster.

Things are still very much up in the air for Alex Riley right now. As many of you already know, he is quite upset with WWE for pulling the rug on his return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. However, a release from his contract has yet to be granted. Management also does not appear to have much interest in him returning full time as an in ring performer. His broadcasting duties have been relieved by the returning David Otunga already.

The initial plans for the Royal Rumble called for Alex Riley to make his televised return. He was reportedly set to become one of the mystery entrants at the pay per view. WWE, however, kept changing up their plans backstage that night. Riley ended up being removed completely from the show. He is not at all happy about that. In fact, he even went to social media to vent and hint that he was seriously considering a departure soon.

Reports had it that WWE pulled him from his broadcasting duties, so that he would be free to work the battle royal as a mystery entrant. Riley was definitely backstage in Philadelphia, but management opted to remove him from the match because plans were being changed all night.

The former in ring performer turned announcer has been pulled from his usual duties, and that has led to a lot of speculations that he is going to be one of the mystery entrants. Riley has kept in shape by working a couple of live events recently.
