Since Matt Bloom is taking over for Bill DeMott as the head trainer for WWE, some are wondering whether or not he will continue as the commentator for NXT. The announce table was already thinned out a bit earlier this week when Alex Riley decided to become an in ring performer again and work a program with heavyweight champion Kevin Owens. It would be difficult for Bloom to consult and coach the wrestlers backstage if he is commentating.

As many of you already know, Alex Riley was robbed of a chance to work the Royal Rumble by WWE officials at the very last minute. He was quite upset about that, but obviously he got over it. Well, he is not done with his campaign to step away from the commentating table and climb back into the ring. Riley is pushing management to give him one of the available slots at the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal at Wrestlemania this year.

Those of you that watch NXT on a regular basis already know how dominant Kevin Owens is being booked by the creative department. He's tearing through opponents at a rapid rate. Officials even put the heavyweight championship on him weeks after his debut. WWE knows that there are only so many guys on the developmental roster, so they are currently thinking about having a veteran performer like Alex Riley put him over as well.

It looks like Alex Riley isn't ready to depart WWE just yet. Amid rumors that he was seeking his release from the company after being abruptly dropped from the Royal Rumble match, he showed up at NXT and started a program with one of the developmental wrestlers. It is said that he should be down there for at least a couple of weeks to finish the feud. No word yet on whether or not management will put him back on the main roster.

Things are still very much up in the air for Alex Riley right now. As many of you already know, he is quite upset with WWE for pulling the rug on his return to the ring at the Royal Rumble. However, a release from his contract has yet to be granted. Management also does not appear to have much interest in him returning full time as an in ring performer. His broadcasting duties have been relieved by the returning David Otunga already.

There have been questions and speculations floating around about the status of Alex Riley in WWE. The belief is that he wants out of his contract and out of the company to pursue other opportunities in professional wrestling. Things became even cloudier yesterday when David Otunga was brought in to replace Riley on the Monday Night Raw kickoff show. Otunga has been off the road for quite some time now and is rarely used by the company.
