Del Rio not dropping title

Since WWE will not allow Alberto Del Rio to return to Mexico to drop the Mega Championship, AAA officials have decided to simply strip him of the belt and do a tournament to crown a new champion. The former world heavyweight championship really wanted to do the right thing and honor tradition, but his contract would not allow it. AAA does not have any backstage heat towards Del Rio because they understand the situation.

Roman Reigns

WWE final four

As of now, WWE is planning on filling their world heavyweight championship tournament with performers who really do not stand a chance of advancing. The final four will more than likely be Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens. Management may be leaning towards doing a match between Ambrose and Reigns since they have been building up their on screen friendship for several months now.

Alberto Del Rio to WWC

While WWE will not allow Alberto Del Rio to make a return to AAA to drop his championship, they have no problems with him heading down to Puerto Rico to work a WWC event. When Alberto Del Rio made his surprising return to WWE, officials in AAA were under the impression that he would be returning to their promotion to drop the Mega Championship to another performer. It also forced AAA to postpone their television taping.

Del Rio back to AAA

One of the problems with Alberto Del Rio returning to WWE is that it left AAA in the cold. The promotion is aware that the former world heavyweight champion is booked for an upcoming tour of Europe and is scheduled for Monday Night Raw and Smackdown. However, they need him to return at least for a night, so that Del Rio can drop the AAA Mega Championship to another performer.

Del Rio replacing Orton

Since he is injured, Randy Orton has been removed from the upcoming WWE tour of Europe. Management had already advertised Orton as being part of the show, so they felt the need to make it up to fans who had already purchased tickets. To do that, the front office booked Alberto Del Rio as a replacement. Del Rio recently returned to World Wrestling Entertainment and is viewed as an international star.
