While professional wrestling is where he makes his bread and butter, Alberto Del Rio has long had an interest in MMA. He has yet to receive the right offer to step back into the ring for a fight. However, he still wanted a way to be involved in the sport. Del Rio has found that way. The former world heavyweight champion has signed on to work as an announcer for a promotion in Mexico.

The former world heavyweight champion was scheduled to work an independent wrestling show in Houston, where much of the proceeds would go towards a charity. He never showed up, and the promoters are claiming that he never even made contact with them to provide an explanation.

The former world heavyweight champion was under the impression that he completely tore his quad. It has been discovered that it was only partially torn. The former world heavyweight champion was bleeding from the top of his head, his nose and his mouth. There were some concerns from Ring of Honor officials that he might have suffered a concussion, but he reportedly has cleared those tests and will eventually be fine.
