Back when he was a free agent, Alberto Del Rio was fielding offers from several companies. One of those companies was UFC. The promotion really wanted the former world heavyweight champion to come in and do a couple of fights. However, Del Rio was forced to reject their offer because the two sides could not come to terms on money. He stated that he was doing so well in professional wrestling that it would be a pay cut to jump to MMA.

Well, the former WCW star has revealed something rather interesting. He stated that he was offered a kickboxing fight with Del Rio on a card scheduled for May. The former world heavyweight champion seriously considered it before Del Rio suffered an injury.

The former world heavyweight champion was under the impression that he completely tore his quad. It has been discovered that it was only partially torn. Del Rio still needs time to recover from the injury, so much of his upcoming matches will need to be canceled or postponed.

Apparently, a good deal is now on the table. Reports have surfaced that Del Rio is quite close to signing a contract with Bellator for at least one fight. The former world heavyweight champion is also said to be negotiating with other promotions as well.

Despite only having started with the company recently, Alberto Del Rio has suffered his first injury scare with ROH. He hit his head pretty badly while selling a spot on the rail. The former world heavyweight champion was bleeding from the top of his head, his nose and his mouth. There were some concerns from Ring of Honor officials that he might have suffered a concussion, but he reportedly has cleared those tests and will eventually be fine.

A $400,000 contract was put on the table for Alberto Del Rio. Management even sweetened the deal by limiting the amount of appearances that he would be required to make during the year. For whatever reasons, the former world heavyweight champion declined the offer.
