Reports have surfaced that WWE is still heavily interested in bringing Alberto Del Rio back into the company. However, the odds of that happening are considerably slimmer now that Lucha Underground has announced that they have been renewed for a second season of television. This gives Del Rio more leverage in negotiations. He's going to demand the bank from World Wrestling Entertainment.

When Lucha Underground confirmed that their promotion is staying alive because a second season has been approved by the network, they claimed that Alberto Del Rio has been confirmed to be a part of their show. The former world heavyweight champion took to social media to dispute that claim. The two sides are set to meet in the coming days. Negotiations should be taking place on a new contract.

Back when he was in WWE, Alberto Del Rio used to wear a scarf to the ring. The reason for that is because Vince McMahon hated the fact that Chris Jericho wore scarves backstage all the time. McMahon feels that it is a feminine product to wear. Since he hated it so much, McMahon felt that the scarves would bring even further heat to the heel character that Del Rio was portraying.

On April 19, Lucha Underground is taping a very special two hour episode. It will bring closure to all of their current story lines, and there should be plenty of surprises that evening. The general feeling right now is that this could be the very final episode that the promotion runs. They have lost millions of dollars over the past year. If Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio are not able to sell the network on another season, then this is the end of the road.

Looks like the momentum that Alberto Del Rio had picked up over the last couple of months is about to take a hit. It has now been revealed that he has suffered a torn quad. The injury reportedly took place while he was working a match down in Mexico. Since he did not want to skip out on a scheduled appearance, Del Rio still flew to Connecticut this past weekend and worked a match. He teamed up with Matt Hardy to take on Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson.

During a recent interview with The Troy Show, Alberto Del Rio was asked about the claims made by CM Punk towards the WWE medical department. Del Rio stated that he never had any issues with them personally, but he also stated that Punk would not lie about such things. Del Rio knows Punk better than fans who have never been around him for an extended period of time. He also teased that Punk could potentially end up in Lucha Underground.

Since the company has seen their numbers in Mexico taking a severe drop, Triple H is now heavily pushing for WWE to find themselves another Mexican star that can draw some of the audience back. The criteria right now is that the person has to be at least six feet tall, can work solidly in the ring and is bilingual. Ironically enough, a person that fits that description is Alberto Del Rio, who was recently released by the company for a backstage incident.
