Since WWE will not allow Alberto Del Rio to return to Mexico to drop the Mega Championship, AAA officials have decided to simply strip him of the belt and do a tournament to crown a new champion. The former world heavyweight championship really wanted to do the right thing and honor tradition, but his contract would not allow it. AAA does not have any backstage heat towards Del Rio because they understand the situation.

As of now, WWE is planning on filling their world heavyweight championship tournament with performers who really do not stand a chance of advancing. The final four will more than likely be Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens. Management may be leaning towards doing a match between Ambrose and Reigns since they have been building up their on screen friendship for several months now.

He recently worked a story line with Ricardo Rodriguez, so the promoters wanted him to head back down there to finish that up.
