In a sign that TNA may be loosening up the purse strings again, reports have surfaced that the company had negotiations with AJ Styles about a potential return that would have seen the former world heavyweight champion return to the promotion in time for their debut on POP TV. The two sides were not able to reach an agreement in time. Plus, Styles currently has a favorable deal on the table from WWE.

Reports have surfaced that the former world heavyweight champion has decided to leave NJPW because he received a very favorable contract with WWE. There are also talks that he will not be forced to start in NXT and will join the main roster right away.

At a recent event, he defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to recapture the belt. Tanahashi had defeated Styles last year to win the title. Styles and the Bullet Club are in line for a major push this year, as the promotion handed five championships to the heel stable in the very same night.

In addition to him on very good terms with Jeff Jarrett, there is also a working relationship between his current promotion, New Japan, and Global Force Wrestling. While the former world heavyweight champion did not completely shut the door on the possibility down the line, he stated that he was not going to be making a return anytime soon because he has found a home in New Japan.
