When the official Royal Rumble poster was revealed a couple of weeks back, some fans complained that WWE was playing favoritism towards certain performers.

The four most prominent performers are John Cena, Undertaker, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. All four of them are part time stars. They are also better compensated than the majority of the roster that work the hectic full time schedule for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens are the three performers on the second row of the Royal Rumble poster. Charlotte and Owens make sense because the former is the WWE Women’s Champion while the latter is the WWE Universal Champion. Reigns is in his position because management wants him to be the biggest star in the promotion.

AJ Styles is in the back row, right next to Rich Swann. The WWE Cruiserweight Champion is probably the least known face on the Royal Rumble poster.

During an episode of Talking Smack, Styles complained to Shane McMahon about his placement on the poster. Shane deflected by telling Styles that Stephanie McMahon was the person in charge of creating the Royal Rumble poster.

While the segment was scripted, it might have been based a little bit on reality. The fact that the WWE Heavyweight Champion is featured in such a small role on the poster is a bit odd.
