WWE announced this week that Stephen Amell would team up with Adrian Neville to take on Stardust and Wade Barrett at Summerslam. There were those backstage that were actually hoping that Goldust would be able to return in time to team up with his little brother. The belief was that the bizarre tandem would help intrigue the mainstream media attention that Amell is surely to bring.

In a sign that WWE is going to push him, Wade Barrett was given the King of the Ring victory over Adrian Neville tonight. Plans must have been changed backstage recently because he was initially booked to put over Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules a week ago. The absence of Bryan itself may have led to the change in decisions. The front office also did a good job of protecting Neville in the match by making it seem like he had a rib injury.

Since WWE is throwing a lot of performers into the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania, they are going to need a lot of bodies to be able to fill up the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal. Right now, management is looking at the NXT roster and trying to decide which one of them to utilize. A name that is near the top of all the lists backstage is Adrian Neville. Management wants to showcase him a bit.

Since management is preparing him for a promotion to the main roster, Adrian Neville is discussing new character ideas with WWE officials. One of the ideas that is reportedly being thrown around backstage is for him to portray an underdog type of character, similar to the Mighty Mouse character from the cartoons. The former NXT heavyweight champion does not have a lot of stroke within the company, so he more than likely will accept whatever they say.
